11 Nigerian Tech Entrepreneurs Nominated for Future Awards 2011

The most influential youth event in Nigeria, The Future Awards has just unveiled the nominee list for the brightest and best in various categories over the last one year.
Interestingly, the list features some of the most influential people and companies in the Nigerian technology space. I’ve profiled 11 of the tech entrepreneurs and companies below (in no particular order).
- Nkemdili Uwaje, 25, MD of Future Software Resources Ltd, was nominated for Best Use of Technology
- Temi Kolawole, 25, CEO of Antigravity Inc., was nominated for Best Use of Technology
- Mubarak Mohammed Abdulahi, 27, inventor of the home-made helicopter, was nominated for Best Use of Technology
- Saheed Adepoju, 25, innovator of Nigeria’s first tablet PC, Encipher Inye, was nominated for Best Use of Technology
- Mayowa Owolabi, 27, owner of DuduMobile and DuduPay, was nominated for Best Use of Technology
- Tim Akinbo, 29, CEO of TimbaObjects, was nominated for Best Use of Technology
- Makinde Adeagbo, 25, a Facebook software engineer, was nominated for Young Person of The Year
- Debo Olaosebikan, 25, currently completing a PhD in Physics at Cornell University where he is working on the world’s first silicon laser with Dr. Michal Lipson, one of the world’s leading Nanophotonics pioneers, groundbreaking research that will introduce the world to an era of much more faster computer processes, was nominated for Young Person of The Year
- Bode Pedro, 27, (Veda Technology) was nominated for Business Owner of The Year
- ConnectNigeria.com, an information search portal, was nominated for Team of The Year (Disclosure: I work for ConnectNigeria.com)
- Jobberman.com, a job search engine, was nominated for Team of The Year

it seems all shortlisted individuals in the nigerian tech space always seem to be the same set of names all the time..
i take a look at this list, do a quick lookup on what they are doing and i DONT think this represents the cream on nigerian technical innovation in nigeria..
I think we need to look more at other areas apart from web..eg BI…My 50 cents..
