[BREAKING NEWS] Google Buys Encipher for $2 million
In what can be described as a major acquisition deal in Nigeria’s technology industry, Google has bought Encipher for $2 million, according to a reliable source close to the transaction.
The acquisition, though unconfirmed at this point, follows rumours of Google being in talks since last May with Encipher, the Nigerian software company pushing the android platform development in Africa.
Update: This was an April Fool’s Day post
If this deal is true, it would mean that Google is now ready to take on Microsoft/Nokia in Africa with its open source operating system which Encipher has been pushing in Nigeria.
Android has been described as “Google’s beautiful, versatile and opensourced weapon against Microsoft’s onslaught on Africa.”
We’ve reached out to both Google and Encipher for comment on the deal and will update as soon as possible.
